HomeKeeper is a demonstration project built for the Build, Ship, Shape:
Amazon Developer Hackathon. This policy explains what data the demo collects
and how it is handled.
What we collect
- Appliance photos (only if you use photo onboarding). When you
scan the QR code and upload a photo of an appliance nameplate, the image is sent to
our AWS backend so Amazon Bedrock can extract the brand, model, serial number, and
manufacture date. Nothing else in the photo is used.
- Demo household data. The demo ships with a fictional household
(appliances, maintenance tasks, warranty records) stored in Amazon DynamoDB. If you
add an appliance through the demo, its details are stored the same way.
- No accounts, no tracking. We do not ask for your name, email,
or any identifier. We run no analytics, advertising, or cross-site trackers.
How data is stored and how long
- Uploaded photos are stored in Amazon S3 and automatically deleted after
7 days.
- Appliance records live in DynamoDB in the us-east-1 AWS region and exist only
for the demo.
- One-time upload tokens expire after 15 minutes and cannot be reused.
What we don't do
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties.
- We do not use your photos or data to train machine-learning models.
- There is no real Alexa integration: the "Simulated Alexa+ experience" runs
entirely in your browser, and no voice recordings are made or stored.
Your choices
Use of photo onboarding is optional — every demo flow also works without uploading
anything. Because uploads are anonymous one-time tokens, there is no account to
delete; photos expire automatically after 7 days.
